How to self-program your Signia Silk Nx

In this video, we want to make sure you get the best out of your hearing aids with the Signia App. The Signia app gives you everything you need to enjoy your hearing aids to the fullest.

It's more than just a remote control. You are able to personalise the sound using only your smartphone and essentially fine tune your own hearing aid. There are three key elements to personalising your hearing aids successfully:

  1. The Programs

  2. Volume Control

  3. Sound Balance Control

The Silk Nx hearing aids will learn from the changes you make to the volume and the sound balance in each individual program so set the programs correctly to the environments you're in and adjust the volume control and sound balance control to where you hear most clearly and comfortably.

The algorithm will calculate the averages of all the changes you make in each program and slowly over time learning your preferences and starting at that position the next time you turn them on.

You should reach a point where you rarely need to alter the volume or the sound balance.

There will be some situations that might need a tweak and it's OK to do this. You're hearing may also change over time and you may find yourself having to make changes again.

Any sudden changes should be checked out by your GP but check that your hearing aids don’t just need a good clean instead.

How to Clean & Dry your Signia Silk Nx

After wearing your hearing aids, you will need to give them a clean. Use an antibacterial wipe to clean the sleeve but do not clean the tip. You do not want any moisture to get into this part of the device. You'll do this part the following morning with the cleaning brush.

You should not wear your hearing aids while sleeping. When putting them away at night, keep them in a regular safe place where they can get plenty of air. If you keep them in the hearing aid box or in a drawer, leave it open. Only close the box when transporting your hearing aids around.

Ideally, you should put them in the Signia PerfectDry Lux drying and UV box. A combination of fan-pulsed hot air dehumidification and 360 degree UV-C light will take care of your hearing aids. You can find these on the Pocket Hearing store page along with replacement sleeves, domes and batteries. In the morning take the brush and very briefly and gently brush the tip upside down to remove any dried wax debris. Now you're ready to wear them again.

Once a week, a more thorough clean should be carried out. This should also be done in the morning or before you've put them in that day. Remove the sleeve or dome and brush out the speaker tube filter gently and upside down again. Replace the sleeve or dome and hold it the opposite way up to clean out the microphone filter. This is located just above the battery drawer lip when the drawer is closed. Remove the battery and close the drawer before you clean this part with the brush upside down again.

If your hearing aids stop working, it is most likely a blockage that is causing the problem either where the sound goes in or where it comes out. i.e. the speaker tube or the microphone filter is blocked. Your warranty does not cover wax ingress and you must keep your hearing aids clean. If you send them to us for a repair and they only require a good clean then you will be charged for the full professional clean and dry service. You can find the details on our prices page on the Pocket Hearing website.

However, clean daily and use the PerfectDry Lux and you'll have years of trouble-free wear. This should be for around 4 years for this style of hearing aids.
